Pyke — Wilderness
The inhospitable coast and cliffs outside Castle Pyke.
Wed Apr 04, 289

The Riverlord host had set into the remains of Lordsport on Pyke Isle the day before. Though a token force of war galleys (largely the Redwyne fleet) guarded thar harbor, the Royal Fleet was absent.

Directed immediately to march overland and join with King Robert's army before Castle Pyke, a swift uphill march has brought them here: the steep slopes leading up to the abrupt cliffs upon which perch the five-fold fortress of House Greyjoy.

The massed ships of the Royal fleet blockade the castle from the sea, while siege lines manned by men of the West, the Reach, the North, the Vale and the Crownlands are entrenched before it. Massed artillery has hammered holes in the outermost fortification, and made a ruin of several towers, seeming to fire and reload constantly. The master of the camp as the Riverlords march up is a gigantic warrior clad in ancient bronze armor, inlaid with silver runes. Nearing seven feet in height, and built like a tower himself, the massive nobleman turns his eye from the ongoing struggle at the walls to those who have come late to the siege.

Only fashionably late, really. as the majority of Pyke still stands. Among the men approaching is Gedeon Rivers, walking with the small contingent of the Riverlands army that comes from Oldstones. The blond knight looks up, and then up some more at the armor-clad mountain regarding them as they approach. One brow lifts for the nobleman's sheer size, though the maile hood and metal cap he wears likely help to mostly conceal the 'woah nelly' expression.

Late to the siege perhaps, but hopefully still in time for the party. Ser Jarod Rivers marches at the head of the Terrick host in its place in the Army of the Cape. His own surcoat the dark 'bastard' heraldry he wears, as ever, but the four eagle banner is carried by a man behind him. He tries to maintain an expression of stoicism - or at least competence - as they approach the bronze mountain of a man. But he can't help but let a low whistle escape his lips.

Amongst the massed formation of the Riverlords is that of Aleister Charlton, marching at the head of the Charlton Host and as they begin to approach the massive castle that lays seige, the Knight's eyes flit to that of the banners of the various men that hold the siege. It's an impressive sight, for sure, to see so many powerful houses gathered in one place.

Marching with the Terrick host, having done so for most of the Iron Island Campaign, Kell's eyes are focused on the burning and holed walls of the final fortress they need to take before turning his gaze onto the very large man who seems to be in command of the siege. Being a Hedge Knight, there is no real surcoat or identifiable markings on the man, though he seems to have kept his kit in good, fighting order.

It's a good thing that incessant marching has been a part of the drills for the Nayland forces since the war started and before, because the march uphill from Lordsport with full kit was no joke. Ser Bruce, amongst the Nayland Guardsman is sweating profusely, shifting his pack every five or ten minutes. As the massive, bronze armour clad man comes into view, Bruce can't help but smile at a sight he's not seen for near six years now. His squire, on the other hand, wearing the burden of his pack and the Nayland standard, can't help but stare shocked. "Easy there, lad. It's Bronze Yohn Royce, not the Warrior incarnate. Though he looks the part." His eyes sweep across the host and the catapults, and Bruce is heartened. "This is what I call an army."

The weary souls that are what's left of the Young Lord Flint's contingent find some cheer in the reaching of Pyke and the camp where there's been secret hope that they may yet join their kinsmen, rather than remain in the company of the Riverlords. Anders approaches as well, looking over the camp and whistles, his eyes searching the heraldric devices. "Where are they…?"

Ser Kittridge Groves rides with the other men of house Groves, still clad in the purple and green of his house, though it is looking somewhat the worse for wear these days. The banner carried beside him whips in the sea breeze, the snap of the cloth drowned out by the noise of men marching and siege engines firing. Kit looks about as they near the castle and Pyke, and turns briefly aside to speak to Dominick, no doubt about the state of the fortress's defenses.

<OOC> Rygar says, "Anyone with at least 3 dots in heraldry doesnt need to roll, the big dude is Bronze Yohn Royce, lord of House Royce, and the most powerful Valelord after Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King."

<FS3> Raylan rolls Heraldry: Failure.
<FS3> Kell rolls Heraldry: Failure.
<FS3> Kamron rolls Heraldry: Success.

Moving with the small Groves gathering of retainers and Men At arms, Raylan Weir surely isn't one to stand out in a crowd. Tucking his kettle helm back he looks up, mainly from the sheer size of the fortress and the siege, as opposed to the great armored man. A shake of his head, as he whistles softly to himself. "Mother's tits, that's huge.." And eyes slide to the unknown knight whom he squints at, briefly. "So's he.." though that part is left more or less silent to himself.

Moving along with the rest of the late company is the young lord Alric, being a few steps behind Aleister. His steps steady and eyes watching the banners and the giant man, recognizing him. But for now Alric stays quiet.

Moving along with the front end of the Mallister host, Martyn looks around every now and then, pausing a little as he looks to the castle ahead. "Why do we always get the challenging ones?" he mutters under his breath, before looking over at Lord Royce for a few moments. Then back to the castle again.

Riding near Jarod with the Terrick contingency, Hardwicke is in his usual Terrick livery as Captain. His brows twitch the slightest hint upwards at the sight of the master of the camp, but he manages some restraint in his visible and audible response.

Kamron has been studying the castle amidst its destruction as he advances up the hill along with the Mallister contingent. His squire is gaping up at the massed military force, but Kam is grinning over beneath his helm, "Now -this- is an army." His grin broadens as he raises his eyes up to the fortress beyond the Crown lines, "And they're -fucked-." Martyn's mutter draws a dry chuckle from the other Mallister, "It's just a matter of time and cost, coz."

Keelin is with the Mallister folks, as per his usual. As he arrives and spies the lay of the land, or as much of it as he can, he takes a long moment to just stare. Though as the mountain of a man is seen - who could miss him? - he can't help the grin that shows on his face. "And you wouldn't want it any other way, m'Lord," he replies to Martyn's comment. Kamron's own reply simply gets a grin and a nod, as the sworn sword keeps his place.

Bronze Yohn Royce quickly scans in long ranks of incoming Riverlords and grunts something that might be approval. "Whosoever commands, stand forward," the giant lord calls, in a voice accustomed to command. "As for the rest of you, my lords will find no use for horses at Castle Pyke. Any disciplined infantry and knights afoot will be well used."

Coming from one of the many amassed tents, is another knight, his own colours not at home with the men of the Vale, Crownlands, or the Reach. Helm ducked under hand, The newest arrival from the camp, is calling out: "Ser Royce." a means to acknowledge the master of cmap-though upon seeing the others converging on the knight, Ser Rutger Nayland, is quick to fall silent, even as an amused smirk comes upon his features. "Well, it seems the Riverlands have come to join us." A sight for sore eyes, for the second oldest Nayland, who has seen nothing but the courtiers and their levies since he left King's Landing.

Bruce is familiar with Rutger Nayland, though by no stretch of imagination does he really know the man. Being the man in front of the Nayland contingent at the current moment, he offers the nobleman a dip of his head. "M'lord Rutger. A pleasure to see you." Obviously, Bruce assumes Rutger will know who he is in turn, because he doesn't introduce himself. The Vale lord earns yet another grin, Bruce patting his trusty shield heartily. He removes his gloves, tucking them in a pouch on his belt, and wipes the sweat off of his face with his bare hand.

The announcement that horses have no use here isn't surprising to Kell as for the most part of the campaign, their mounts were not used. He also wouldn't want to risk his current steed in rocky terrain here on the Iron Islands, having already lost his trusted Horse at Seagard due to Reaver shenanigans. The gift given to him by Lord Jerold is something he would most likely try to keep safe indefinitely until the horse retires to the old jerkey home.

As Royce addresses the group, the Groves' bowman is quick to look amongst the army assembled around him. Counting horses for the moment, before he's looking back towards the castle. A faint frown, remains on Raylan's face as he shifts his weight a little. A nudge goes to one of the men at arms beside him "Banner up, boyo." muttered softly. "Ain't it somethin' M' lord?" Ray pipes towards Kittridge. "Ain't seen war like this before."

Gedeon Rivers knows Rutger Nayland's face as well, and he glances over as the second, no, the oldest Nayland son joins the grpup of knights and soldiers. But, he's silent, waiting for the Riverlands commander to step forward to present the lot of them.

"Tilt'll be saved for when we're back in the Riverlands, looks like," Jarod half-jokes to Hardwicke under his breath. He looks not unhappy at the word about fighting on foot. He doesn't mind the melee. Though he can't help but regard the giant Lord Royce, his gaze drifts toward Rutger Nayland. There's recognition there, albeit faint, and his brow furrows thoughtfully. He is doing some mildly serious Ser Rivers Thinking.

"That's Bronze Yohn Royce," Kittridge informs Raylan, "From the Vale." He watches as commanders are called for and waits for them to step forward, brows furrowing faintly at Rutger Nayland's unexpected appearance. There's another glance back at his yeoman at that comment and the bland reply: "I have."

As he hears the replies from Kamron and Keelin, Martyn offers the two an expression halfway between a grin and a grimace. Pausing, both at the mention of horses and at the call for the man in charge now, letting out a deep breath as he looks around. Pausing as he studies Rutger Nayland a bit carefully for the moment.

Kamron grins over at Martyn and Keelin at the front of the Mallister levies, "Not much room for a cavalry charge in that heap of stone, now is there?" There's a pause, as his brain actually moves off the prospect of direct combat, and he looks down to the seas around the rocky outcropping, wincing just a little, "I wouldn't want to be working a ship close-in under those rocks, especially not if a wind kicks up. Nasty work down there." As if the work the knights, men-at-arms, and levies are going to be doing is liable to be anything but nasty.

Anders turns his eyes to Lord Royce, his lips pressed tightly. Inclining his head at the words regarding horses in acknowledgment, he looks back at what's left of his heavy cavalry. "We knew it was a possibility, given the keep on Harlaw's isle.."

Rutger scans the ranks before him, looking for some banners it seems, before Bruce is coming up and addressing him. Remaining by Lord Royce, Rutger is quick to throw a smile Bruce's way. "Ser Longbough." He knows of Bruce, though not as intimately as some who serve under the Harpy's banner. Eyes slide catching the Terrick contingent , and the they start moving looking amongst the other banners, even as he continues on. " I am glad to see you as well. I was beginning to think I'd not see another Harpy, till I returned home." The grin remains as clearly now, he's looking for his father amongst all the armored men.

Keelin simply stands where he is, watchful, alert, and patiently waiting. Horses - that was expected, indeed after the rest of the campaign so far. "M'lord, should you let Lord Royce know who is in charge?" he asks. Cause for sure, he's not going near the Lords and Nobles at the front of this lot, unless he has to. "Or just let someone else?" Was that addressed to Kamron or Martyn, who knows, but surely someone should answer Lord Royce? Maybe? What does he know, just a common knight.

"You expecting a host of celebration tourneys?" Hardwicke replies in a similarly low voice to Jarod. His gaze slides across to Rutger Nayland, lingering briefly before it returns to Royce.

"Lord Tytos Blackwood commands, Lord Royce," is the answer Bronze Yohn is given by Rygar, as the stern Nayland knight comes within earshot (though with Yohn Royce speaking, half the field was within earshot). "He follows close." His narrow blue eyes take note of Rutger, but he witholds both comment and any expression at the sight.

Bronze Yohn nods to the report, voicing, "The Greyjoys have sent a body of men to retake the lower bailey-" he points a gauntleted hand toward a particularly demolished portion of the forward fortifications. "Ser Tygett has called for a dozen knights to support his men, there. Are there a dozen volunteers before me?"

Raylan glances back to Kittridge, with a brow up. Before he's nodding. "That's the Bronze Royce?" A another low whistle for his trouble, before he's nodding once more. "Don' remember artillery at th' Bells, or the Trident.." Still he's nodding to Kitt. "Jayne won't believe this were I t' tell her." And as Bronze Yohn speaks up, he falls silent.

"Ah, well, m'lord, your father and three of your brothers are here. Many a harpy to be seen yet. We took only a few injured, one dead, on Harlaw. The Gods were with us." Bruce looks over to Bronze Yohn, stepping forward. "Aye, m'lord. I'll volunteer."

Having remain quiet for most of the exchange, Aleister had simply shifted his attention between those that had gathered and were speaking. At the mention of the lowe bailey, he's casting a glance in that direction before he's looking back in the direction of Bronze Yohn before giving the man a firm nod of his head, "And I'll volunteer as well, m'lord. You'll have your dozen, easily enough."

"Aye, my lord," Hardwicke speaks up to Yohn, adding himself to the list of volunteers.

"Ser Jarod Rivers, m'lord, of Terrick's Roost," the knight speaks up to the towering form that is Royce. "I would have my part among the volunteers as well. Do you know if any of the Greyjoy sons fight in the lower bailey?"

Rutger turns his head towards Yohn, and there's a nod. "You can have my sword as well, Lord Royce." There's a glance towards Rygar, as a brow raises to his cousin. Perhaps a silent question to see if he too will be joining the party? Whether or not he is needed elsewhere is not important right now.

Speaking up, Anders adds his name to the host as well, "I as well, I'll go."

"And I, my lord," Gedeon Rivers says, taking a small step forward. One more knight to add to the growing list of volunteers.

From where he is, Keelin promptly speaks up. "I'll go, as well," he calls out, aiming his deep voice to carry. Maybe not so well as Lord Royce, but enough to be heard at the very least.

Kamron has apparently been waiting for that request, or one like it, because as the booming voice snaps him back to the bronze-armored giant standing before the assembled Rivermen, Kamron Mallister steps forward as well, his voice joining the others all calling their willingness, "At least that, Lord Royce. And I'll be one of them." He glances over at Jarod's additional query, a crooked grin that's one part amusement and one part feral agreement painted on his features.

Rygar gives a very faint nod to Rutger's mute look, turning aside to quietly instruct, "Serjeant Farrier, bring the levies to camp, and send word to Lord Rickart of the present action." He motions curtly to his squire, who brings forwad the knight's favored crow's beak pole-hammer.

As volunteers are asked for to help retake the lower bailey, Kell is one of those who raises a gauntleted hand into the air, "I'll also join in on the fight, M'Lord." After speaking so, he steps forward with the rest of the volunteers, apparently itching for more Ironborn reavers to kill.

Alric has been standing and listening as well, quiet mostly. But nods, "I might as well go along." He offers, even though he is no knight or solider. He might at least be able to give some kind of help.

Looking about to reply to the other Mallisters, Martyn pauses for a little while at the call for volunteers. Looking a bit lost in thought for the moment. Looking to Keelin and Kamron as they have both volunteered, he shrugs a bit. "I will come as well, My Lord…" After all, he should be heled enough from his previous wounds.

Bronze Yohn nods to the chorus of assents, taking a moment to regard each of the volunteers, eye to eye, if only for an instant. "Very well. Go to Ser Lannister's aid in the lower Bailey, and drive off the Ironborn, Sers. The Gods go with you," he bids in brief benediction, before the Riverlord vanguard moves to join the fray.

Ser Tygett's men have had the worse end of the developing skirmish, a number of dead armsmen in the Lannister crimson and brass-trimmed breastplates litter the floor of the bailey, mingled with rubble from the artillery, and more than a few fallen Ironborn. There is no stealth in the knights' advance, and calls for a shield wall mingle with battle cries, as the melee begins.

Bruce unlimbers himself from his pack, takes a few gulps of water and then hands the bag off to his already overburdened squire and nephew, Amos. Then he turns to his second in command. "Serjeant Turner, you've got command of the Guard while I'm gone, and if I should fall." Redundant, maybe, but he says it none the less. Pulling the guige strap which holds his shield at his side, he grasps it tightly and removes his sword from its scabbard. He grins determinately. "Well. Gods be with us, I suppose." He echoes Bronze Yohn's words, nodding at him. It's been a long while since he was simply a soldier among many. He advances quietly at a jogging pace to get there quick enough but remain with the rest of the Riverlander men.

Leaving his horse behind with one of his men, Hardwicke sets a charge with the guard and moves on with the other knights to the bailey.

With that look from Lord Royce to give them all extra spirit, Keelin passes his pack back to his squire, limbers up, makes sure everything is fastened right, and he's ready to go. He limbers up briefly, takes a couple sips of water, and then he's off with the other knights.

Kamron unslings his shield, and then his axe in turn, getting them settled into place and grinning back at his squire, "Stay with the rest of the Mallister forces, Percy. Gods watch over you." The Ryger repeats the benediction back, and then Kam advances with the other knights. He looks way, way up to meet Bronze Yohn's gaze, offering up a little smile—after all, he's undoubtedly seen the man before, even if the Valeman doesn't remember him. He bows his head in a polite nod, then moves off to join the others in their advance on the lower bailey, moving at a smooth pace designed to eat up the ground without tiring an armored man too badly. As the combat comes into view, he raises up a cry, "Seagard! Mallister! For Lord Jason!"

To fill in where there are bodies laying doesn't bode well, but Anders is ready and willing to go forward. "The Gods will favour us this day!" comes the fervent belief, and.. hope.

Burgonet is tugged on before he's nodding and falling in step alongside Rygar Nayland. "Cousin. Thank the Gods your here..I don't know if I could handle another minute alone with the Crownlanders.." Rutger barks off before his faceplate is fashioned along. There's a quick pick up to his step as the green and battered kite shield comes over and is latched to his arm-broadsword cleared. There's a turn of his head and he's scanning out towards The Rivers, both of them. "Ser Rivers.." though this more to Gedeon "Luck to you Ser." and then a belated "Sers.

When the charge comes, there is a press of Feet, as His sword raises. His own call joining the others. "Nayland!" Amongst the other curses and vitriol given out.

"Let's hope so," Martyn mutters under his breath to the part about the Gods going with them, before he gets ready to head over there with the others. Taking a few moments to get himself ready, including using his left fist to punch his right shoulder, then left shoulder, before he draws his sword and moves forward with the others. "And so, it begins…" he mutters to himself, but there's no battlecry from him. But then again, there seldom is.

Rygar sniffs sharply at Rutger's greeting, although his own expression (no doubt a frown) is hidden by his visor, leaving only keen, cold blue eyes visible. By contrast with his fellows, the stern knight offers no battle cry, remaining silent as the line of Riverlanders dash to reclaim the lower bailey.

Alric follows along with all the others, as they move along. Not speaking much for now, staying silent and following along with Aleister.

The charge is sharp and sudden. Keeping close to the two noble Naylands, Ser Bruce moves to strike the mailled man in Greyjoy colours who is attacking Ser Rygar, narrowly dodging a spear hucked at him. The movement causes him to stumble slightly, and his sword misses the Ironman. Scowling, he raises his shield up and moves to thrust his sword again.

Sword drawn and shield held close, Hardwicke finds himself the target of one of the Greyjoy soldiers. He takes a graze on his abdomen that his armor protects him from the worst of and swings a more solid return blow across the Ironborn's chest.

Gedeon's eyebrows are getting a serious workout, today. First, there's the giant Lord Royce. And then there is Rutger Nayland, ambassador to Kings Landing wishing him luck. But, then they're all moving, running clashing blades and shields, and Gedeon is busy enough with other thoughts as he cuts into a Greyjoy man who has his attention on Ser Hardwicke Blayne.

It is quick, and as soon as it begins, it almost seems to end for the Young Lord Flint. Anders takes a swing of his sword, reaching beyond, his body covered by his shield. He makes contact, sharp and quick, in the Ironborn chieftan's chest, even as he gets clocked in the head. They both fall, Northerner and Ironborn, but it's the Northerner that rises, ears ringing, blood welling and seeping from beneath the helm.

And down come the Rivermen. The clash of steel and bodies comes with a roar and cries of the fallen. As the one Greyjoy bastard swings into Rygar, Rutger's own swing catches the man in his chest, but the sword fails to find a weak point. The reverb shocking up through his arm, Rutger quickly swings his shield to the front. Slamming the shield forward he tries to knock the boss into his opponent so as to catch him off guard and open up another attack. Keeping clear of his cousin's crow's beak Rutger dances back in to hack at the Ironborn again.

By contrast with the maneuver of massive formations upon the battlefield, the melee erupting within the crumbling bailey is a desperate and brutal slugging match at close quarters. A brief hail of hurled spears greet the Riverlords as the charge to the attack, and the melee turns very quickly bloody. The Riverlords are bled as they hit, but suceed in driving back the initial line of Greyjoys, the bold Ironman who had dared attack the bailey and had succeeded in driving off Ser Tygett's men is visible, and audible. With a shout of "For Harlaw and the King!" Ser Harras Harlaw signals the counterattack, of a handful of Harlaw men, and a trio of warriors hitherto unfamilkiar to the Riverlords: Greyjoy House Guards, clad in long maile coats and kraken-shaped gilt helms.

Jarod bits off a sharp, "Fuck!" as an Ironborn axe bites into his arm. He makes his grip on his greatsword waver, but he manages to keep ahold of it and not falter too much in the charge. He fights alongside Hardwicke and Gedeon, though as they hammer on the squid facing Hardwicke, he turns to direct his attention to a less bludgeoned foe.

"MALLISTER!" Keelin calls out as he rushes in. He ends up facing a fellow with a polearm which is aimed at his chest, striking a blow that'll leave a bruise and then some. In return, Keelin's shield slices into the man's chest, and the fellow falls, leaving Keelin cussing under his breath. The next ironborn he sees is after Martyn and so that's the one Keelin aims for next, deliberately helping out the Mallister lord.

Kamron crashes into the Greyjoy line at Martyn's right. A spear comes flickering in at him, and he crouches down a little, raising his shield up to take the spearpoint in a glancing blow to the painted wood that sends the weapon jabbing out past his left ear. The Mallister's axe chops across his body in a short, sharp slash, aiming to cut into the ironborn's extended arm before he can pull it back. "Push them back!" The new voice from behind the ironborn lines only touches his senses briefly as a weight behind the enemy immediately before him. "Mallister and the Riverlands!"

Aleister meets the charge of the Greyjoy who comes at him and manages to shrug off the blow that connects with the armor of his neck. A grunt sounds and a moment later, his massive two handed mace strikes the Greyjoy Guard and sends him falling to the ground. His attention is then shifted to that voice and there's a low growl that sounds in the back of the Charlton Knight's throat as he rushes towards Ser Harras, his mace lifted in up and in the air as he prepares to meet the Ironborn Knight.

Going straight for one of the enemies that's going for himself, frowning a bit as the man manages to dodge, and at the same time get a blow that glances off his gauntlet. Growling a bit, before he sees both Kamron and Keelin near him. Nodding momentarily to both of them, before he tries striking that enemy that he was fighting again.

The young lord Fenster is moving close by to Aleister swinging towards the greyjoy, though he falls down before Alric can land a hit. Moving along as Aleister goes towards Ser Harras. Himself getting caught in a fight with a guard.

Since there are friendly men at arms already in trouble, Kell makes haste as he moves with the group of Cape of the Eagles warriors. Once the hostile reavers are visible, the Hedge Knight makes no hesitation and charges with the others, longsword clearing the scabbard with a sharp ringing of steel. A warcry is bellowed out by the Hedge Knight though the words aren't exactly recognizable. Spears are flying and one catches Kell in the arm but that doesn't slow down the knight as he closes in on his target with Martyn, his longsword slicing through the air and into the Greyjoy warrior's leg. However, after the initial clash, Kell finds himself no longer in position to continue on the same Ironborn warrior so he pushes on, finding a Harlaw that is meetimg him with sword and shield.

The Knight of the fallen Grey Gardens meets Aleister's charge with his ancestral sword, 'Nightfall' raised briefly in salute, before being lowered swiftly in violence.

With another clash of steel, Hardwicke and the Greyjoy soldier close in again, exchanging blows that fail to pierce armor. The Captain is silent as he fights, twisting his sword expertly in his hand and closing again.

A return salute was given to Ser Harras, a token of respect, before he met the man for what could be a bloody battle. The Ironborn Knight gets the first swing of an attack off, though Aleister is moving to one side to avoid the blow, even as his heavy mace is swinging towards the opposing knight to land a solid blow against the plate that protects the man's chest. The weapon is quickly pulled back and he's shifting his body to prepare for a second attack against Harras.

Anders is on his feet, nice and steady now, his shield coming up to protect his body. Raising his arm to swing once again, he slices across his foe's torse, a nice tear coming, blood seeping from the wound immediately. On the upswing, however, the Ironborn gets a hit in, a scratch in comparison. Grinning in pain, the Young Lord scoffs, "Your life is forfeit, and all for a false king!"

The charge of Ser Harras and his men stops the advance of the Riverlords, knocking a few among the advancing Westerosi to the bloody ground, but failing to rout them. Ser Harras raises his quartered shield (the scythe of Harlaw quartered with the peacock of Serrey) and trades blows with Aleister, while around him the axes and broaswords of his men draw knightly blood.

Rygar at last breaks his silence, as his foeman's broadword manages to bite through the maile of his gorget, grunting through gritted teeth in pain and anger. Blood visibly begins to flow seep and drip through the maile links, indicating a grave wound, but whether through toughness or sheer bitterness, the Nayland does not fall.

Kamron risks a glance beyond the spearman he's facing to see what's going on with the ironborn reinforcements, only to be forced to skip back from a lightning-quick thrust by the spear. His shield comes over too slowly to entirely deflect the thrust, and the spearhead slides in below his right arm, stabbing into the mustcle below his armpit and drawing a gritted-teeth grunt of pain from the Mallister. His own immediate riposte, an overhead sweep of his axe, is robbed of much of its power by the wound, and the Greyjoy man's maille absorbs the blow. Refocusing his attention on the spearman, Kam grits out, "Right then, you bastard. First things first."

Jarod clashes with a Greyjoy guard. Hard. So hard, in fact, that the blow the squid strikes (though it does not penetrate his armor) nearly knocks the Rivers knight off his feet as he meets it with pure velocity. Jarod manages to right himself, though. Trying to run in armor is inadvisable.

With an influx of Ironborn, Gedeon must leave Ser Blayne and the Greyjoy gunning for him to their own battle. He shifts his stance, moving his sword to meet that of a Harlaw man's. They both swing past the other, Gedeon's hand receiving a nice little gash, even as his own blade cuts into the Ironman's arm.

That Alric is no warrior is most likely seen in combat. fighting against the guard but without success in injuring his opponent while he himself get hit in the chest. Falling down breathless, but still able to push up and stand to meet the enemy once again.

As Kell approaches the Harlaw reaver, he throws out a feint attack forward that baits the Ironborn's counter-blow in which is evaded rather easily. With the Ironborn now out of position, an opening appears for the Hedge Knight who cuts down with his blade, biting into his opponent's armor at the neck and drawing a nice red line of blood. Giving th reaver a wicked grin, Kell advances once more for a strike yet again.

Moving forward to swing at the abdomen reagion of the Greyjoy warrior he's fighting, Martyn drives his sword into the enemy, but can't get his shield in place to stop the strike at his chest, wincing a bit as it hits him. Moving in at another attempt to end this enemy now.

Bruce's sword darted inward and made a press against the Ironborn's armour, though no damage was done. His head darts quickly to his side as the Ironman lands his blow on Rygar, his normally sleepy blue eyes widening. "Ser Rygar, pull back!" He yells in a voice the communicates urgency, not command. He's not got time to watch the drillmaster, though, with a new enemy coming in to attack him. Instead of the flagrantly offensive demeanour he'd taken before, now Ser Bruce pulls his shield up tight to defend proper, lancing out more carefully to strike the House Guard more carefully than he'd fought before.

Keelin's sword finds his target, as he puts a slash in the squid attacking Martyn. He'd continue to destroy that particular target, but a clang of sword against his full maile armour catches his attention, and he turns to face the Harlaw who's decided that he looks like easy prey. He roars a challenge as he faces the squid, all alert and attacking swiftly and as brutally as he can. The broadsword comes around as Keelin moves, swinging it at his opponent.

The attack seems to do the job, as the Shield boss catches his cousin's attacker, but a second too late. The rage that comes through after Rygar is struck, brings Rutger into full motion as his sword hacks into the man's chest, likely breaking a couple of ribs. But, the Nayland knight is not hesitating-he continues to press the attack, sending the shield out like a battering ram for the Greyjoy. Trying to pull the attention off his cousin, onto him. Whether or not that entirely works, has yet to be seen.

The blond knight of Oldstones is less fortunate this pass, his sword clanging against the Harlaw man's armor, but doing little else. The Ironer in turn, cuts a shallow slice across Gedeon's abdomen, and the knight sucks in a sharp, hissing breath. The cut is hardly anything, but that area's a point of sensitivity with the pale Ser Rivers, these days.

As his cousin's attacker turns into him, Rutger turns the attack away with his shield. There's a step and a wide swing, causing the Greyjoy to dance back, which does allow his cousin to bring the Crow's beak back into the the dueling man at arms. A grunt muffled by his visor, Rutger keeps the shield low, , only bringing it up in a quick feint, before he's hacking back out at the Greyjoy's neck-his hope to keep the man on him, and open him up for Rygar to move.

Anders sets up his attack, and makes the swing, but the Ironborn guard manages to dodge his attack. With the move, however, the foe's own swing goes wide, making it a great deal easier for the Young Lord Flint to dodge the attack as well. No hit for either.. and the pair continues their battle.. "Yield.. and you'll have a clean death.."

Alric is attacking alongside with Bruce and it all seem to be too much for the guard who gets hit first by Bruce and then a nice hit by Alric to the man's Abdomen. But the fight between Aleister and Ser Herras catches the eyes of Alric as the Fenster lord moves to help the Charlton.

Kell and the Harlaw reaver clashes once more, this time both drawing blood though the Ironborn attack only parts some links on the knight's chainmail, drawing a cut at the abdomen area while the Hedge Knight slices into the open neck area once more. Instead of going for a full decapitation, it seems like Kell is choosing a different route, preferring to disarm the reaver, literally, so he can move on to assist someone else in their fight.

The bloody brawl which unfolds within the shattered stone walls of the lower bailey is as much a match of butchery as it is a battle. At the center of the field, Ser Harras and Ser Charlton constinue to match the other, blow for blow, while all around them, the two lines hammer at each other with a steadiness borne of ancient animosity. One among the Ironborn ranks, badly injured, begins to withdraw, but the others stand and fight on.

Taking advantrage of his cousin's boldness, Rygar manages a blow to his foeman's torso as the warrior turns to face Rutger, but much of his strength is robbed from the blow by the dire wound he had drawn moments before. Blood has begun to stain the oranage and green sash worn across the knight's torso.

Another trade of blows finds little landing: Hardwicke manages to evade the Greyjoy soldier's slash with a quick roll of his body, but his thrust towards the Ironborn's abdomen fails to breach armor. He presses the attack with sudden ferocity, attempting to gain an advantage through aggression as his sword slices towards the man's neck.

Jarod slams the guardsman in the chest with his longsword, though the cut isn't deep enough to bite mortally. At least he ducks his foe's polearm when it's swung at him. His eyes try to follow the men around him but he's mostly engaged with his squid-of-choice.

And yet another ironer swings his weapon at Keelin's chest. Must be saying something. Like get a shield you dolt. In any event, Keelin actually gets hit by a sword to the chest, the cut enough to make him wince, as it starts to bleed. His roar is cut off, and his return attack doesn't have the strength to get through the armour, clanging against the squid's chest. Now Keelin takes a little bit moer care against his foe, at least putting a bit of thought into defense.

Having to dodge the attack from his opponent, Martyn misses his own attack as the enemy dodges. When the man starts moving to withdraw, the Mallister follows him, slshing at him rather viciously. He notices Keelin taking another hit, grimacing a bit as he sees it.

The House Guard's battleaxe glances a blow off of Bruce's hauberk, splitting a few rings and some skin under but not doing any serious damage. The Stonebridge knight manages to slip in past the axe, finally, and his sword sinks a bit more deeply into the man's gut. Still, he grins as Lord Alric's own sword does significantly more damage, though he doesn't spare him a glance. Instead he presses his own attack further, seeking to smash the man with the centre of his shield and unbalance him.

<COMBAT> House Guard 3 has been KO'd!

Again, Hardwicke and the same Greyjoy soldier clash, and again they both fail to land significant blows. Second verse, same as the first.

Coming rushing in from the side and swinging low seemed like a good idea for Alric, and he does hit. Unfortunately the hit does on do much damage. I did give Aleister an opportunity as well, but Ser Harras armor seem good enough to protect him from both of the men trying to bring him down.

Jarod is knocked down hard by a blow to the chest from the squid guard's polearm. It pierces a strap in the side of his armor, and finds blood, causing the Rivers knight to let out something that's half pained groan, half gasp of surprise. As he hits the ground his sword goes up more on instinct than anything else…catching the guardsman he's fighting full in the chest. It pierces deeper into the maile of his foe, as much from luck as anything else. "Huh…" he mutters, grimacing as he gets to his feet.

So far, so good. Rutger keeps the squid bastard on him, and when the man's sword comes in and catches his chest, there's but a grunt as the shield swings down to knock it back, leaving a scrape against his breastplate. Sword swings wide as the other man drops back, and he grunts in the movement. Deep breath and he steps in trying to keep the sword pinning the other back. Open something up so his sword can catch the Greyjoy unawares. Slippery fuck that he is.

The close quarters contest grinds on, with the frantic hacking and swinging of warriors filling the shattered bailey with a clamor of shouts and iron, as well as adding blood to the already filthy flagstones. Another of the Greyjoy warriors is staggered and crippled by a blow, staggering back from the battle line, and not returning. Although Ser Harras' sword leaves a deep crease across the front of Aleister's chestpiece, just no harm is done. 'The Knight' of Harlaw Isle spares an instant to steal a glance at the rest of the field, frowning through his visor at the sight of the shield line failing.

Well, now, this is a bit better. Noting that sharp suck of breath Gedeon made, the Harlaw man moves to stab again at Ser Rivers's stomach. Ready, this time, Gedeon twitches out of the way, bringing his own blade down to cut into the squid's left arm, leaving behind a second gash to match the first.

Okay. So the Harlaw squid decides he's going to take advantage of a weak spot, trying again to slash at Keelin's chest. He's eager, but his aim is a bit off, as his sword hits armour and leaves Keelin undamaged. But by now Keelin's a bit irked, and his return swing ignores the cut he's got, moving with deadly grace to slash at the squid's neck, trying his level best to separate his head from his shoulders. If he can.

Anders chuffs a breath, a whoof in exhale as he's hit in the chest squarely, his shield having been off-center with the recovery of his dodge. Swinging, not quite wildly, but in an effort to get the man back, he catches his opponent in the chest, though not quite as solidly as he'd been hit.

Bruce isn't so fortunate this time around. While the axe may have slipped the first time, it hits with force enough to knock the wind out Bruce this time around. He exhales in one quick burst, just a moment before his sword is going to strike his opponent in the chest. There's very little force in the blow, which is turned away from his opponent's vitals quite handily. He backs up a step, dropping to a knee for but a moment to catch his breath. Now, where a smarter man might raise his shield higher, Bruce does not - he darts upwards towards his foe, pivoting to send out a slash with his sword. The man's eyebrows knit as a scarred chest once more bleeds.

The Harlaw reaver's attack are definitely growing slower and more sluggish, Kell can see that as the next slice flying at him is rather coreographed and thus dodged without issue. The return cut to remove said reaver's hand however was unsuccessful but instead of slicing through nothing but air, his blade cuts into the Ironborn's stomach. With even more confidence now, Kell advances on the other man once more, this time thrusting forward with the tip of his longsword, for the throat.

Aleister is indeed matching Harras blow for blow and the last round seems to net nothing more then dented armor, without injury. There's a soft growl to this, yet the Charlton Knight doesn't stop his assault upon the other Knight, even as he casts a look across the field.

Missing his attempt to bring down his opponent, Martyn takes a few moments to look around the battlefield as well. Seeing his cousin looking to have some trouble with one of the enemies, he moves in with a high swing for that Ironborn.

The Greyjoy manages to get the best of Hardwicke in their next meeting of blows, the edge of his blade digging just far enough through armor to cut flesh on his left arm. The Captain grunts through the grind of his teeth, his own blow sliding off armor.

Anders is wavering, his sword arm is growing heavy. The attack on him is successful, and the rejoinder is weak indeed, and too slow. Doesn't mean that he's willing to stop, however, and his blood finds yet another avenue by which it departs his body.. through his abdomen. Slick with blood, his and his foe's, he fights on, gritting his teeth beneath his helm

Jarod goes to Gedeon's aid, once he's on his feet again. A little paler than he was before, but he can still swing his sword. With feeling.

That sword comes through, catching the weak link his his armor. Blood following the pull out, which sends the Nayland knight down to his knees with a cry of pain. Blood seeps out as he coughs, wracked in the pain. Ribs cracked, he is going to bet two, but there is no telling. Rutger is now left a little in the open.

This time, it is the Westerosi battle line which is staggered, and thrown back. Although one of the Harlaw warriors falls to the stones, as alive as any of the rocks, three knights are knocked back, and for an instant the field is contested again.

As Rygar sends another blow after the Greyjoy warrior who besets his cousin, he hisses breath in past clenched teeth as his collar screams in pain at the exertion of recovering the hammer, and the still-standing Nayland steps between his foeman and the fallen Rutger.

Oh, hey. Aid. It's well timed, Jarod's arrival, because it lines up with the Harlaw getting a good slice into Gedeon's chest. The blond knight staggers back and to one knee, winded, and Jarod's sudden appearance provides enough distraction to allow Gedeon to push to his feet again. He offers the other bastard a quick grin. "Thanks for that."

As the staggered Westerosi knights begin to fight back to their feet, and as Ser Harras steals a second glance at the state of his men while warding off his pair of attackers, 'The Knight' of Harlaw Isle calls, "Iron! Back!" calling for an orderly withdrawal, while his battle line is intact enough to answer such an order.

It's apparent that Bruce sprung a moment too late - an attack which would have sliced the Ironman Guardsman's arm clean through instead only opens his mail and a tiny bit of skin, causing a trickle of blood. At least he stopped the man's attack cold. Bruce continues to press his attack, teeth bared in a terrible scowl. The normally quiet Stonebridge Captain yells out loudly at his foe. Aiming to get one last sword blow in before the enemy can withdraw, but not go any further.

The Greyjoy with the spear seems to have Kamron's number pretty well, with the Mallister slamming another axe-blow off the other man's shield, only to take a spear-thrust just under the rim of his helmet. Kam stumbles back and falls to one knee, blood spilling down over his right eye in a wash that stains his features. Forcing himself back up to his feet, Kamron brings his right hand up to his face, using the leather covering the ball of his thumb to wipe the blood out of his eye.

"I do my best," Jarod grunts in reply to Gedeon. He's winded and not up for much more than grunting at present.

Keelin's attack this time is just a stab to the abdomen, really perhaps just enough to knock the harlaw down as he seems to have not noticed the gaping neck wound. With that done, Keelin has a moment for a look around, and he spies a Westerosi knight down and a squid in the way. He staggers a bit, but then he takes off to try to keep the fallen knight in one piece if he can help out. "Mallister!" he cries, though it's a far far cry from his previous roar.

Landing almost equals blow against each other again, Aleister gives a quick grunt and a shake of his head in the direction of Harras, but when the other Knight issues his 'retreat', the Charlton will have none of it. Instead, he presses forward, meaning to try and down Harras here and now.

Martyn frowns as he sees Kamron take that hit, and lays his full force into the blow for the Greyjoy's head. Doing some damage to the man, Martyn looks over to Kamron for a few moments, "Head still there, cousin?" he asks, before he moves for the Greyjoy man's head once more. Glancing around as he hears Ser Harras. "Harlaw coward!" he calls out in the man's direction, while still keeping most of his focus on the man he's trying to take down.

Wheezing, Rutger tries to pull himself up, hand using his fine sword to push himself up. Sword held low, and his shield gathered to him. AS the Squids press forward, he is just trying to find air through the pain in his chest. Gauntleted hand moves to undo his face mask. letting it swing open, so he can spit blood. "Fuck.." groaned out, before he is sucking down air. He'll pull back with the Crown and river forces, but for now he's going to try and suck down air. And not bleed everywhere. Priorities.

Well maybe someone will need to help yank him up, for when they pull back.

Jarod gives chase to the fleeing Ironborn. But, rather than trying to stab the fellow he's pursuing, he throws himself bodily at him in an attempt for a bloody tackle. Which is, more or less, successful. "Yield and I'll not kill you," he grunts through gritted teeth. It's a pained sort of sound, but maybe it can pass for intimidating. Plus, Hardwicke is there also with a big sword.

Kamron glances over at Martyn's words, "I'll survive." He advances back into the line, keeping his head turned slightly to the left to keep his good eye toward the enemy. Under his breath, he adds, "I hope." Shoving his way back into the fray, Kam puts another axe-blow into the maille the Greyjoy is wearing, "Just die already, you dirty fucking reaver." At least he's doing some damage to the maille shirt, and probably some nice bruising and cracking of the body beneath. And there's another wash of blood down his face, and he has to spit some out. Stupid bleeding head wounds.

Anders didn't think the sword thrust would hit, but it was a chance he was willing to take. True enough, it misses its target, and as the call to the Harlaw forces to withdraw comes, his sword arm drops, lending him aid, now as a crutch. He hunches forward, taking shallow breaths, blinking his eyes to see through the red that coats his face, mixes with sweat on his brow and matting his hair. He can't give chase, and won't give chase.. instead taking the time to simply.. breath and consider how, exactly, to keep himself from expiring here in the keep..

Although one more of the Greyjoy battle line is dragged to the ground by a brawling halfeagle- struck once on the ground, no less- and although several more Westerosi blows find ironborn flesh, Ser Harras manages to extracate the remainder of his men from the bailey in good order, deflecting a pair of blows from his opponents in the process, again raising the blade in swift salute to hail, "Until we meet again, Riverlord!"

Rygar holds his ground, once the Greyjoy warrior evades his hammer blow and joins the retreat. The first words he has spoken since the melee commenced are directed to Rutger, as he sees his cousin struggling to rise. "Will you live, Ser?" he prompts curtly.

Jarod's trapped warrior grits his teeth in pain upon being tackled to the gory stones, making a brief and feeble struggle to escape before looking up at the blades poised to end him and nodding once, yielding and ceasing his struggles.

Gedeon takes a final swing at the Harlaw man before he retretas, but as the squid makes his escape, the blond knight halts, taking a moment to find his breath and determine how badly he's been hurt. And then he begins looking around the field to note who has fallen.

Hardwicke does not seem very inclined to let the Greyjoy live, but when Jarod manages to down him and get him to yield, he resorts to just glaring at the man. Grouchily.

Bruce manages to cut his sword in the man's arm a bit deeper as the Ironborn pull back. He stills himself and raises his own shield, resisting the urge to continue pursuing. He takes some steps backwards, until he's with the two men he came to battle aside. "Ser Rygar, I will make sure he gets back. Do yourself a favour, Ser, and find a Maester before you've no more strength to walk. I know what those neck wounds are like." He smiles wanly.

Bruce raises his hand. "Wait - let me bandage you, first."

Martyn frowns a bit, both at Kamron's words, and at the fact that he misses the one he was trying to take out. Well, hopefully they'll bleed to death inside there, right? Turning to his cousin again, he frowns a bit, "Let us get you back so they can make sure you'll be healed…" he offers, before he's unable to grin a bit, "Always knew you had a thick skull there…" Turning to look around for Keelin as well, very briefly.

Keelin takes another shot at a squid neck, doing his best to decapitate his opponent but falling somewhat short. He is by now over by Rygar and Rutger, but at Bruce takes charge of the Nayland wounded, he finds himself looking for Martyn and Kamron. He's still on his feet and walking, at the moment, not one of the worst injured. Though he is still bleeding, not that he's noticed. Whoever he sees, he calls out, "Make sure to get all the wounded back to be treated! And maybe you should include me." Though he is starting to look around, trying to find any half dead squids to finish off, or half dead Westerosi to get back to the camps for treatment. He does make his way back to Martyn and Kamron. "How are you two holding up?" he asks.

Jarod struggles to his feet. He sort of masks the struggling with wrangling the Ironborn, but he's still breathing heavy and bleeding. "You shall be delivered to the commander of our forces for questioning. And I've a few of my own I'd like to ask."

Rygar sets the pommel spike of his crow's beak to the flagstones underfoot, leaning a measure of his weight upon the haft to keep upright. He inclines his head shortly, to communicate assent at the offered aid, and the stern Nayland voices frostily, "If nothing else, this will set to rest the claim that I bleed Nayland orange, Ser. You may begin." It is only upon closer inspection that the severity of the wound becomes apparent. With his helm still donned, the rapidly paling hue of his face remains hidden.

Bruce can't help but burst out laughing at Rygar. He sheathes his bloody sword and reaches into a belt pouch, removing a small wooden vial of poultice, a dressing and a bandage. "I think the Ironborn are turning you comic, Ser. Or, at least their blades. I wonder what they coat them with." Quickly and efficiently, Stonebridge's Captain of the Guard gets to work binding Rygar's neck with practiced efficiency.

"Have him all right, or would you like a hand?" Gedeon asks, watching as Jarod wrangles his prisoner. In a bit more of a mutter he adds, "Let's hope our war prisoners have better luck this time."

Hardwicke begins cleaning his blade in prelude to sheathing, but his gaze does flick carefully over Jarod, particularly where he bleeds. "Still alive, Rivers?"

Kamron drops back to a knee as the ironborn retreat, resting the rim of his shield on the cobblestones and leaning heavily on the straps. "It feels more smushy than thick right now, coz." His voice is a little hazy, but he still does his best to shake his head at Keelin and Martyn, "I'll be fine… at least until reinforcements arrive." He looks up to the other Mallisters, the Terrick, and the Valentin, "Everyone survive?"

"I'm fine. Just a scratch this time," Martyn replies to Keelin and Kamron. "You two should go get yourselves checked out by the Maesters, though. Both of you." The last said a bit sharply after he heard Kamron's words.

"I'm sound as steel, Sers," Jarod says, clapping Hardwicke's shoulder with the arm not attached to his Ironborn. He keeps his hand there and leans, after clapping Hardwicke. He could benefit from a trip to the healer.

Alric is moving over towards Aleister, putting his sword away. "Lord Charlton, are you alright?" He asks, having seen the fighting between that man and the ironborn knight.

"I will live." Rutger adds, with a brief laugh, finally coming to stand by his cousin and Ser Bruce. There's a shake of his head. "I think he cracked a rib, or broke it.." Or two. Sniffing, the other Nayland lord hocks red spittle away before he is nodding to Ser Tygett. "I'm pulling back Ser. I thank you." his hoarse reply is given, before he's looking to Bruce and Rygar. "Damn well bleed orange.. Make sure he lives Ser Longbough..I will find a Maester." or somewhere else he can bleed.

Hardwicke sheathes his cleaned sword and sets a steadying hand on Jarod's shoulder in turn. "Sound as half-molten steel, maybe," he says in a dry tone. "You'll need to get that looked at."

"Find Mistress Senna Delacourt if you can, m'lord." Bruce calls to Rutger. "She's better than any Maester I know." He sidles up to Rygar's side. "Go now, Ser. We must hold the line here until reinforcements relieve us. I will see you at camp." He dips his head, and then looks back at the area they just took. Without unsheathing his sword, Bruce begins to clear the bodies from the area, to make a good path.

Senna is indeed waiting back at the main body of the camp, sleeves rolled up and supplies waiting for the injured. She started this war competent, but as the battles have come and gone, she's settled into a routine with the wounded, and even the nerves are starting to wear off.

"Is sort of runny," Jarod observes, looking down at his bleeding. Which is slower now, at least. "Could do with getting this seen to, I suppose." He eyes the squid. "After this one's taken care of. I can hold here until we're reinforced." He stands up slightly more under his own power, to prove this. With only middling success, but he doesn't topple over.

"Let me watch him," Gedeon offers to Jarod, "I'm not so bad off." Well, he can stand without staggering at any rate, for al trickles of blood leak sluggishly from his own maile. "Won't do to pass out while trying to restrain a prisoner."

"You heard him," Hardwicke tells Jarod in a firm voice. He only seems to be bleeding from his arm, so he's nearly perfect by battle standards.

"If you've the materials, I can bandage you. Just before we get reinforced. We can't afford to lose anybody until other men come up. Come here, Ser Jarod." Bruce wipes his gloves off on the tunic of a dead man, then removes them. "I've got enough dressing for two more wounds. Beyond that, you'll need to find some clean cloth."

"All right." It doesn't take much more convincing for Jarod to take the excuse to limp off, leaving the prisoner to Gedeon's disposal. "Watch him. He's wearing Greyjoy colors. Wondering if he might know something useful of those within the castle. Including those prisoners the squids took from our own shores." With a grunt, he hauls himself over to be seen to by Ser Bruce. "You all right yourself, Ser?"

Hardwicke jerks his chin in Gedeon's direction in an acknowledgment of sorts. Perhaps there is gratitude buried deep down in the gesture. He always tends to watching their prisoner with a sullen, dour glare.

Gedeon takes Jarod's place, curling his hand around the prisoner's arms, other hand resting at his blade. For Hardwicke's chin jerk, the blond Rivers offers a somber nod. He's not fool enough to smile at Hardwicke. Smiles only make him cranky(er).

"He opened my chest, again. And I didn't even get him back, really. I'm losing my edge, I swear it." Bruce replies, shaking his head. His mouth is momentarily full with the wrapping bandage. First, the Stonebridge man pours a tiny bit of the powder in the vial into Jarod's wound - it will sting like salt. Then he's pressing down the clean white cloth, and finally wrapping it. "I swear to the Gods, Aleks will be furious."

Jarod has to take off his breastplate (which takes no small amount of effort), before Bruce can get to work. There's a minor cut on his arm, and a deeper one on his side up around his chest. He holds still and compliant while he's patched, though the stinging makes him wince. And swear. "Seven fucking hells!" The barking done he asks with a grimace, "Who's Aleks?"

"Aleksandra. My wife. I swear she'll be more mad at the Ironmen than I am." Bruce quips, smirking at the thought of his wife's anger registering at all.

"Sounds like a scary woman," Jarod says, though it sounds vaguely like a compliment. He grins. In a pained sort of way, but he grins nonetheless. "I'd like to meet her sometime." He'll stay generally still, until he's a moment to hobble off and lay down somewhere away from the front.

Alric is moving over towards Jarod and Bruce, after having checked up on Aleister. Having heard parts of their conversation which has caused a grin, but for now he does not speak. Just looking at the injured soldiers. Having been lucky to get away with only minor injuries himself.

"Absolutely. She'll be at the tourney, when all this bloodletting is done. She's er.. small. But she can be loud. Just not in public. Had a better upbringing than me, afterall." Bruce smiles broadly, looking over at Alric. "Thanks for that sword stroke, m'lord. You bloodied that bastard right up."

"Loud can be fun," Jarod comments in a dazed sort of way. Perhaps it's the bloodloss. In any case, he offers a nod to Alric and finally goes off to take his place amongst the wounded, on that classy note.
