Background

Danner was born to Nasser Costen and Kyla of Seagard, in November 6th, 264 AL, His father Nasser was a craftsman by trade, one of the finest in Fairmarket, He was known for his superior quality work, especially his weapons. Kyla in contrast was a lowborn woman of great beauty. She was also a amateur huntress, who used her skills to make ends meet.

Unlike most bearing a surname, the Costen family was not a noble house. At least not in the time of recent memory. They had been commoners in the land since before the War of Conquest. Generational anecdotes passed down through the ages say that they were once a minor noble house from the region of Starfall. Several decades prior to Aegon's Landing, they were stripped of their titles & land, and banished from Dorne. This was said to be due to instigating a failed rebellion and participating in several dishonorable schemes against the ruling house of Dayne. After being exiled from the then independent kingdom they traveled across the borders into the Reach. It was here that they would reside, until the Blackfyre Rebellion. Due to the stryfe in the area the small family migrated slowly towards the Riverlands. Eventually, they found a comfort in their station as commoners over the eras, and established a long tradition of honest labour. They settled in the area of Fairmarket and the surrounding areas, and becoming known as family deeply steeped in the crating and service professions.

When Danner was a young child he would play with his father's wares, including old swords and similar arms. This would often get him in trouble with the elder Costen. However, throughout his young years he continued to fantasize about becoming a great warrior of reknown. Training with the local boys in in the guise of the woods around the area, often sparring with wooden simulacrums when the real steel was not availiable. From the moment he could hold one his father taught him the basics of combat. When he came of age, he would aid his father in the creation of arms and armaments, He took a particular interest in bladesmithing, however. Throughout his adolescence he took what his father had taught him and supplemented it with his own technique, becoming a fldegeling swordsmith in his own right by his late teens. He would also practice with these weapons, constantly throughout the years, honing his craft to a level well beyond most his tender age. He would also accompany his mother on her hunting adventures when not aiding his father with his crafts. It was there in the calm of nature that he truly connected with the wild, learning to live in the moment. This greatly increased his reflexes which he channelled into archery and from this he learned hot to make quick description on impulse rather than logic.

Throughout his growing up he had dreamed of being a knight. At the age of 16, he was invited to squire for knight whom was a patron of his fathers wares. Ser Woltar, a common hedge knight whom was never tied down to one place for long. Journeying to the edges of the Riverlands and sometimes beyond, the pair would sometimes resort to dubious things to survive. One particular racket was the one of protection. Woltar would pay several thugs to terrorize a village. Then they would demand payment to vanquish these foes. A theatrical display of ferocity that would be put down by Ser Woltar and his young squire Danner. This went on for several years, like clockwork. Collecting payments from hysteric citizens of towns across the Seven Kingdoms, after hiring some brigands to raid it allowed them to live comfortably, but would only last so long. Danner was compelled to also rob travelers and commit dastardly deeds on behalf of his liege.

Eventually, Danner would come to learn many things of knighthood from Ser Woltar as well as a few things less than chivalrous. He became even more fearsome with a wide variety of weapons including the sword, compounding on his already adept knowledge. It was a symbiotic relationship, at best; until one fateful day. Woltar had finally made his way back around to the Fairmarket area. On this particular attempt he had hired a less that savory bunch. They proceeded to actually cause havoc and chaos on the outskirts of town. After Ser Woltar had collected his tribute, seemingly not bothered by the amount of devastation he had caused, he was informed of a grave mistake, Kyla, Danner's mother had been caught in the crossfire.

She had been travelling by cart on the thouroughfare to the small village when she and her servants were struck. The end result was the pillage of the wares in transit to the town and the fatal stabbing of the craftsman's wife.

Family

Physical Features

A young man standing at about 5'11", and appearing to be around his mid-20s. His hair is a medium brown and slightly curly amounting to a series of small waves before evenually falling down to his shoulders. It would frame a easygoing face, itself bearing a nice bone structure. His eyes would be of a dark hazel, above a pair of moderately thick eyebrows. It's colour likewise to the shade of the slight stubble forming acrous his lower face. His nose a mildly thing and somewhat triangular shape, but otherwise appearing quite normal. It sat above a smile that was charming, cunning, and bewitching all at once. His teeth weren't completely straight, but it hardly mattered. His skin was fair, although slightly olive in the right lights as if he had some Dornish blood. Crows feet were visible when he smiled like the dimples crated in his cheeks. He was a lean man, who looked as if he could handle himself regardless. All muscle grafted onto an unusual frame, he had a slight gut that encroached his belt and large arms. His legs on the otherhand were rather skinny and unappealing. Overall he was much better looking than the average commoner, altho there were certainly thousands, in the Seven Kingdoms, if not more, whom could outshine the young man.
